MCJR 35th Anniversary

Amongst the hustle and bustle of celebrating 75 years of service by Norfolk State University, the College of Liberal Arts is celebrating the birthday of one of their own schools. The School of Mass Communications and Journalism, MCJR for short, celebrated its 35th anniversary during “MCJR Week”, a yearly event.

With multiple panel discussions, luncheons, awards ceremonies and networking events, the Mass Communications department of NSU gives plenty for both Undergraduate and Graduate students to experience. This year, panels were held in the Student Center for the first time in the celebration’s history.

Notable alumni that participated this year included Roy Campbell, an event coordinator of national television fame, Kurt Hogan, a former television news reporter in multiple markets, and Alexis Aggrey, a very talented young visual effects and editing specialist among many others. The multitude of talent that came back to discuss their respective career paths and how NSU prepared them for those paths proves the depth of the impact the Spartan program has on its students.

The students that attended each of the events seemed very enthused and extremely excited about the information being shared, and were fully engaged. Looking forward, next year’s crop of alumni should be just as open and honest.
